Ryan ‘Mo’ Morris MBE
Founder of BeachFront BJJ, Mo has been at the forefront of military advancements in recognising the development and support required for mental health alongside physical fitness to achieve stability and success for the workforce and leadership. Having deployed to N.I, Iraq and Afghanistan, Mo invested his time in the people and leaders around him.
Mo promoted a cultural change within the Royal Marines’ approach to mental health care and management. The tag line “when STRENGTH alone just isn’t enough” resonates with Marines who have felt encouraged to self-refer or approach a struggling colleague, to initiate support when previously stigmatised. Mo has the full responsibility for design, advocacy, and implementation of this project. Holistically re defining Mental Health as optimisating Human Performance. Mo assumed an innovative role in the Royal Marines Human Performance team, focused on Human Performance, Mental Health and Resilience delivery.
Mo is a specialist Physical Training Instructor with a First-Class Honours degree in Strength and Conditioning. He is also a trained Remedial Instructor (Sports Therapy & Injury management).
Mo is a teacher, coach and mentor with extensive experience of working with people within the community and service, promoting resilience and developing strategies for optimising Human Performance through a raft of modalities. An accomplished public speaker and motivator, Mo has delivered work for NATO and UK Defence Mental Health, the Premier League MH, Swansea City FC, Arsenal FC, Virgin Media and a host of individuals with one aim of ‘making you better tomorrow than today’.
Mo is a committed BJJ Practitioner and has now been able to mix his passion for BJJ and performance in the same place. He is currently a BJJ Purple belt under 3rd Degree, 1st Generation Roger Gracie Black Belt Tomasz Viralata Rydzewski at Elevate, Richmond. Mo is also the Chairman of the Royal Marines Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association.
